Drug exports in 2010 amounted to about $ 341.5 billion, and overall reports show that the value of drug exports increased by nearly 0.6 percent compared to 2015 and by about 2.6 percent compared to 2020.

In 2017, Europe accounted for 54.8% of total drug exports, equivalent to $ 278.8 billion. Asia’s share of drug exports was 9.7 percent and North America’s 8.1 percent.

Latin America, excluding Mexico, accounted for 0.9 percent, Oceania 0.5 percent and Africa 0.3 percent of drug exports in 2020.

The above 15 countries accounted for 85% of the world’s drug exports last year.

Among these countries, drug exports from 6 countries, Denmark increased by 249.8%, Switzerland by 26.5%, Germany by 11%, India by 9.4%, the Netherlands by 6.6% and Israel by 3.4% compared to 2017.

Exports of the five countries Belgium, Spain, Italy, France and the United States also fell by 20.2 percent, 18.3 percent, 12.5 percent, 11.9 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the amount of drug imports in 2017 was about $ 370.7 billion, which is an increase of about 2.4 percent compared to 2016. In 2020, the total volume of drug imports in the world is reported at 362.1 billion dollars.

This figure has increased by nearly 1.4 percent compared to 2019.

Among continents, Europe accounted for the largest drug imports at 51.6 percent ($ 191.4 billion); North America came in second with 20.5 percent.

Asia accounted for 19.4 percent of drug imports, Latin America except Mexico for 3.5 percent, Africa for 3.2 percent and Oceania for 1.7 percent.

In total, 74% of the world’s drug imports in 2020 were made by these 15 countries.

Among the above countries, drug imports from China, the United States, Switzerland and the United Kingdom increased by 57.5%, 34.6%, 25.9% and 15.2%, respectively, compared to 2013.

Meanwhile, drug imports from Australia, the Netherlands, Russia and Belgium in 2020 decreased by 28%, 27.5%, 27.3% and 25.2%, respectively, compared to 2017.
